There are also regular free wine tastings, usually held in a local hotel. These are not in any way formal or intimidating, we just put out the wines we have selected, give you a glass and let you work your own way around. We are there to talk about the wines (or anything else) but we do not make a formal presentation or try to preach about them, we prefer to let the wines speak for themselves.

Most times we arrange an optional fixed price meal in the hotel afterwards to make the whole evening more special, and usually most people do stay for the meal which makes a very pleasant social event. The wines are offered at a special discount for orders placed on the night.

We also put on regular promotions for Tasting Club members offering special deals or discounts, details of these in the newsletters.

Reminder of South African Tasting - 17/11/2009

Apologies to those of you who have already booked, but the rest of you may need a reminder that we have a tasting of South African wines next Thursday. This will be our last major tasting before Christmas, and the wines would be perfect with the festive meal.

The wines are exceptional; South Africa really is a buzzy place for wine production these days, and great quality combined with a weak currency means exceptional value.

The tasting is at 7pm at the Coquetvale Hotel, as ever it is free and all you need to do is turn up. It is helpful for numbers if you can let us know you are coming, just ring Lindsey or David in the shop on 01669 620965 or reply to this e-mail.

There is an option of staying on to dine with us, a fixed price three course meal at £18.50 per head including wine is really very good value, and you are assured of great company because all our customers are good fun. One village is even sending a busload!
