The first benefit of membership is a regular newsletter and commentary sent to you by e-mail. Jon writes his personal view of the wine world, and aims to supply you with interesting snippets and information although he admits that an occasional tirade or prejudice may elbow its way in now and again.

There are also regular free wine tastings, usually held in a local hotel. These are not in any way formal or intimidating, we just put out the wines we have selected, give you a glass and let you work your own way around. We are there to talk about the wines (or anything else) but we do not make a formal presentation or try to preach about them, we prefer to let the wines speak for themselves.

Most times we arrange an optional fixed price meal in the hotel afterwards to make the whole evening more special, and usually most people do stay for the meal which makes a very pleasant social event. The wines are offered at a special discount for orders placed on the night.

We also put on regular promotions for Tasting Club members offering special deals or discounts, details of these in the newsletters.

New House Wines - 16/10/2009

Dear Tasting Club Member
There are two pieces of news for you today, the first is that the owners of the Rothbury Estate wines from Australia have decided to stop distributing this wine in the UK, which is a disappointment to us because as well as being a very good wine it is a good seller for the obvious reasons. We only have a couple of dozen bottles of the red left, so if you want some you had better be quick; I doubt we will be able to buy any more.
Secondly, our house wine for the last five years or so has been the ever reliable Cuvee de Richard, and it has been hugely popular, but owing to the euro exchange rate it has become relatively more expensive. We have also discovered a superb range of Chilean wines from Finca el Picador which are cheaper and in my view better. The range comprises a Merlot and Sauvignon Blanc which we have been offering for nearly a year now and we have recently added a Cabernet Sauvignon, a Chardonnay and a Rose, so these five wines now constitute our \"House\" range, and at £5.28 they are very good value, I have commend them to you. We will continue to stock the Cuvee de Richard so those who have know and love this wine can continue to buy it.
All the best
Jon
