There are also regular free wine tastings, usually held in a local hotel. These are not in any way formal or intimidating, we just put out the wines we have selected, give you a glass and let you work your own way around. We are there to talk about the wines (or anything else) but we do not make a formal presentation or try to preach about them, we prefer to let the wines speak for themselves.

Most times we arrange an optional fixed price meal in the hotel afterwards to make the whole evening more special, and usually most people do stay for the meal which makes a very pleasant social event. The wines are offered at a special discount for orders placed on the night.

Black Bottle Scotch - 16/09/2009

The International Spirits Challenge was held recently, a blind tasting conducted by some of the whisky industry\'s top blenders.
Out of dozens of top whiskies they awarded only eight Gold Medals in the blended whisky category and I am delighted to say that one of them went to an old favourite of ours Black Bottle which was a bit of an upset as it is significantly cheaper than the other Gold medalists which were mainly 30 or 40 year old blends.
Made at the Bunnahabhain distillery on Islay but incorporating all the main Islay whiskies in the blend it is a fresh but smokey whisky which could easily be mistaken for a malt.
On our shelves at £16.77 but as a special celebration of it\'s success it is available to Tasting Club members only at just £15.99 until the end of September.
Now why wouldn\'t you go for that?
