There are also regular free wine tastings, usually held in a local hotel. These are not in any way formal or intimidating, we just put out the wines we have selected, give you a glass and let you work your own way around. We are there to talk about the wines (or anything else) but we do not make a formal presentation or try to preach about them, we prefer to let the wines speak for themselves.

Most times we arrange an optional fixed price meal in the hotel afterwards to make the whole evening more special, and usually most people do stay for the meal which makes a very pleasant social event. The wines are offered at a special discount for orders placed on the night.

We also put on regular promotions for Tasting Club members offering special deals or discounts, details of these in the newsletters.

Italian Wine Tasting on 1st October - 09/09/2008

As promised details of the tasting we are holding at the Coquetvale Hotel in Rothbury on 1st October at 7pm.
We will have on offer at least six whites, eight reds, a pink and two sparkling wines. The format follows our usual practice of setting out the wines for you to sample and enjoy in your own time, in any order you want and there is no formality whatsoever, we are there to talk to you about the wines if you want but there is no lecture. The wines are available to order on the night at specially discounted prices but there is no pressure on you to buy anything.
The tasting is free we simply ask that you phone Lindsey in the shop on 01669 620965 and let her know that you intend to come.
Following on from the tasting at about 8.15pm we offer an optional meal in the Coquetvale's Italia+ restaurant for a fixed price of £24 per head. For this you will get a very special four course Italian meal including wine. The menu will offer three choices of each course. If you want to eat with us you need to tell Lindsey as above and let us have a cheque made out to Rothbury Wines for the amout of £24 per head.
There is usually a good turnout and the meal is very sociable, so please do come and make an evening of it. We especially look forward to welcoming some of the new Tasting Club members who have signed up at our stand at the Taste 2 food and wine festival.
