| English wines are really superb now, although many people have not yet realised just how good they have become. We have decided to offer the wines of Chapel Down, made in Tenterden in Kent, because of all the vineyards they have made really significant investments in their winemaking equipment and processes, their winemaker Elias Owen is one of the best in the country, and we feel it really shows in the product. If you have never tasted good English wine buy a bottle of Bacchus just as a start. It will be a revelation. The Sparklers have often won out in blind tastings over French Champagnes, and indeed some Champagne houses have been trying to buy English Vineyards so that when global warming pushes temperatures in Champagne too high, our chalky South Down soils will become absolutely the perfect location. |
